Waste-Free Lunch Challenge Starts April 18!

During the week of April 18th to April 22nd, Monsignor Paul Baxter will be having a Waste-Free Lunch Challenge. The goal of the challenge is to help us decrease the amount of garbage we produce and to educate students, staff and parents about waste reduction. School lunches are a major source of waste in Ontario. The average student’s lunch generates a total of 30 kg (66 lbs.) of waste per school year, and an average elementary school generates 8,500 kg (18,700 lbs.) of waste per year. We encourage you to pack your child’s lunch using such items as reusable containers, reusable utensils, water bottles and thermoses in order to reduce the amount of garbage we produce. Remember it all starts April 18th.
